Wings of The Eagle
For two and one half centuries the Roman Empire had been persecuting the Christians. Then,
in the year 313, Roman Emperor Constantine issued a decree protecting and supporting
Christianity. The Christians now had the backing of the Roman eagle itself to
expedite their flight from their enemies into areas not yet proselytized.
John saw this marvelous event in its spiritual
aspect. He wrote: "The two wings of the great eagle were given to the
woman, in order that she might be flying into her place, the desert, where she
is nourished for three and one half seasons away from the serpent's face."
So, not even the serpent, or dragon, could find her for ten and one half months
