Realization
of Prophetic Visions

But what, exactly, is the engraving? The Bible
says that it is the name of the wild beast or the number of its name.
Revelation 13:18, translated literally from the Greek, states: "Here the
wisdom is; he having mind, let him compute (count, add up) the number of the
wild beast, number for of man it is; and the number of it six hundred sixty
six."
That phrase, "number for of man it is,"
simply means that it is a number given by man, a number used by man. A similar
expression is found in Revelation 21:17, where John states that a certain
measurement is according to "measure of man, which is of angel." In
that instance the same standard of measuring was used by both man and angel.
But in the case of the wild beast, the number is a humanly-devised designation
standing for the wild beast's name. So, set in English grammar, Revelation
13:18 says: "Here is wisdom; let the mentally capable one' compute the
wild beast's number, for it is a man-made number; and its number is
600-60-6." That looks like an account number, doesn't it? An account
number is a man-made designation used with or in place of a name. For example,
each wage earner in the U.S.A.
is identified by a Social Security number.
When the new economic system is instituted by
technocracy, each person's account will be identified by his handprint or
photograph. Therefore, only the appropriate computerized banking center will
need to be iden- tified by the name or number engraved on his right hand or
forehead.
