The Two Horns
Each of these two horns would act as king in
demanding the dedication of its servants. Effectively, they would promote the
goals of the land beast. They would be separate though complementary. Actually,
these two horns are science and technology, also called research and development.
They are served by scientists and engineers, respectively. Science searches
into the natural laws and relationships of man's environment. Technology develops
ways of using material and forces for accomplishing man's will. Each has
existed all through man's history. But only recently have they committed their
power to the beast that came out of the earth. Having aggressively taken up the
cause of this young beast, science and technology were seen by John as the two horns
on its head. But what, exactly, is this beastly false prophet?
